#City confidential narrator series
On the surface, City Confidential looked like another American Justice, but it was as far from Kurtis flagship series as it could get while still functioning within the hour-long true-crime format. Much credit, of course, must go to the writers, but as a fan I'd come to consider Winfield's voice the "star" of the show.

Through pulpy evisceration and Winfields sneering proclamations, the episode handles these topics better than other, more-serious minded programs (and public discourse in general) can more than a decade later. However, Winfield was, like many of his generation, necessarily discrete about his personal life, so theres not much publicly shared information. As much as I loved Paul Winfield's narration, I also loved the piano music whenever the show would cut away to a commercial. With the exception of The First 48, A&E has moved on from true-crime, now focusing on a combination of scripted drama and reality shows like Storage Wars and Duck Dynasty. Would you like to write for us? FAQ The network canceled many of the shows it had been airing for years to introduce something like this which is more edgy and entertaining than artistic. If Bill Kurtis was A&Es paternal figure, offering moral condemnation of terrible crimes, Winfield quickly became the networks favorite weird uncle, the kind who knew where all of the bodies are buried and was more than happy to spill everyones deepest and darkest secrets in blissfully lurid detail after a drink or two. It is our intention to engage, educate, and entertain our readers in amusing and provocative ways. My mother, on the other hand, has been a devoted viewer of these shows since their inception (long before they'd eventually have their own channel, which is still mind-blowing to me). I love the way Paul wenfield narrated the show for five years I believe, and then after he passed someone else narrated it another two years. But when they want to have their parades and showing off how homosexual they are and demanding people kiss their rears because they are homosexuals. City Confidential premieres, Thursday,October28at10pm ET/PTon A&E. Great show, sarcastic scripts, interesting and entertaining, Keith David is a worthy successor to the late Paul Winfield, My Favorite Television Series of All-Time.
